As part of a Bell Quality Assurance Evaluation, Jo Raskin, Global Partnership Scheme Manager for Bell International, inspected Bell Beijing International Training Centre from 1 Dec to 4 Dec, 2008. The inspection included: an Academic Management Check that evaluated recruitment processes, quality of teaching, and curriculum materials; a Centre Management Check which focused on liability, company-related issues, rooms, facilities, and systems; and an Administration check which reviewed administrative procedures for staffing, training schedule, course delivery and evaluation. This inspection demonstrates Bell’s commitment to ensure that Bell Beijing and Bell International provide the highest quality of training on the market.

On the first day of her visit (Dec 1), Ms Raskin checked management systems and procedures. She also observed several corporate training sessions at Open TV with trainer Angela McKenna, and at Nissan with trainers Nigel Playford and Ian Murray.  These are group training sessions for corporate clients, consisting of around 10 participants per session. After her observations Ms Raskin reported: “the teaching practice is highly commendable and there’s a great atmosphere in the classrooms.”

Later we had an Academic administration meeting with Ms Raskin, at which she shared Bell International’s concept and development plan for 2009.  She also pointed out that the course management systems that Bell Beijing has set up in all areas of the centre are well organised and comprehensive, with very clear procedures for working with teachers. Then on the same day she observed a training session at for another cooperate client, Bulgari. This is a Beginners’ Course for Retail Sales, which is a customized course  specifically designed for the retail industry.  Ms Raskin was pleased with what we’ve achieved so far in tailoring our course to meet the needs of sales people in the retail sector.

On the third day of her visit, Ms Raskin joined a one-to-one VIP lesson with trainer Angela McKenna which she highly commended. Then she observed an activity group training course for ABB LV. This is a new type of course designed to enhance internal communication skills in English, which would improve internal communication and thus ultimately improve overall productivity.  Ms Raskin said: “the activity class demonstrated Bell Beijing’s innovative programming and course design, and it is very impressive.”

Ms Raskin was satisfied with the operation of Bell Beijing overall. She said we’re on the right track and although as a new company, we still have plenty of room for improvement, the centre is growing fast. In the supporting role of Bell International, she would like to organise a Teacher Development Seminar in May of 2009 at Bell Beijing.  This will be a great opportunity to promote our centre and further develop our trainers’ skills. The idea is very constructive and we believe it will help Bell Beijing to develop improved teaching performance for corporate and other clients. We’re looking forward for the next Bell International Quality Check.
